The Tour de France lost great champions, characters and cyclists to the war that swept through Europe in 1914. They will be honoured this summer during the first world war centennial
Do you remember that hour of din before the attack

As you peered at the doomed and haggard faces of your men?

With dying eyes and lolling heads those ashen-grey
Masks of the lads who once were keen and kind and gay?
